Edgewater
Welcome to COMMUNITY Edgewater!
COMMUNITY Edgewater is more than a building or an event that happens once a week. We are a community of people who are on the move. Located in the north side neighborhood of Edgewater, we exist to help people in the city find their way back to God. Check out the info below to learn more about what's going on, and don't hesitate to email us.
Chalk the Block: TUESDAY at 8pm
This Tuesday, February 21 we'll be chalking the blocks of Edgewater with truth and beauty to bring hope and joy to our neighborhood. Meet at 8pm at El Norte (5600 N. Ridge) - from there we'll divide into groups, go to different el stop, and have a lot of fun chalking the block. It's the beginning of an uprising against the disorder of the world!
SABBATH WEEK: No New Communities
Every few months we like to take a Sabbath Week as a church. So, our New Communities will NOT be meeting on Tuesday or Friday. Instead, we want to encourage everyone to use this time to BLESS someone, to rest, to spend time with the Lord - whatever it is you need right now...do it!
This week also marks the beginning of Lent, the 40-days of preparation for and anticipation of Easter. We definitely want to encourage you to consider some sort of fast during this time. And if you're curious about Lent and why we take this season serious, check out this article.
Morning Prayer: TUESDAYS and FRIDAYS at 7am
Join us bright and early on Tuesdays and Fridays for prayer and breakfast before you start your work day. This Tuesday, February 21, in honor of Fat Tuesday we'll be having pancakes! We meet at Kelly Carnathan's apartment - 1258 W Bryn Mawr, apt 1N. Hope to see you there!
48th Ward Meeting: THURSDAY, Feb 23 at 7pm
If you live in Edgewater, then you most likely live in the 48th Ward. This Thursday, February 23, join COMMUNITY Edgewater at Senn High School (5900 N Glenwood) for the 48th Ward Master Plan kick-off meeting. This meeting is a community planning process that will develop a shared vision for the future. There are 11 topical committees related to the 48th ward, and you can find out more about them by clicking HERE. This is one great way for us to love our neighborhood!
Celebration Generosity Dinners: RSVP today!
Each year we designate one weekend where we give our entire offering away in support of 4 different initiatives - both nationally and internationally. We call this weekend "Celebration Generosity" and this year it will be on Sunday, March 18.
If you have never participated in Celebration Generosity the first step is to join one of the 4 Teams. Second, you are invited to one of our Celebration Generosity dinners - one on March 9 and one on March 10 to hear first hand stories from each of the teams. Pleas RSVP for one of these dinners as soon as possible - we hope to see you there!
