Men's Small Group build a Community Garden!

Last Saturday, the men’s small group from Lincoln Square teamed up with JUSTembrace  to create a community garden in the front yard of the house JUSTembrace calls home, as well as myself. This project started as an idea months ago, when we realized that anytime we stepped outside our doors to do yard work, neighbors would stop by… either out of simple curiosity, to help out in some way, or to tell us how it is done! We knew a community garden would be an excellent way to get even more neighbors involved, and, at the very least, have an even greater presence in our neighborhood.

One Year Anniversary!

As the tables went up early Sunday morning, the L Square music band playing in the background, fresh yellow flowers placed on the bright tablecloths, the feeling in the air was one of excitement (and it wasnt just because the smell of pancakes was wafting from the halls). Almost exactly one year before, Community Christian Church launched their twelfth campus, and the first one in downtown Chicago. Since that first day, small groups have exploded, the church has almost outgrown one service in the elementary school gym, and the worship band has launched L Square Music--we even heard all six of their original songs at the anniversary service. What an incredible year it has been here in this fantastic community we call home!
