10 For 10 - Are You Up For a Challenge?

A couple of weeks ago we were on our series 'omg' where we were explaining WHY we, as Christ-followers worship God in different ways, singing, giving, getting baptized, etc.

During our topic WHY GIVE? We challenged the whole church with the 10 - 10 Challenge. Committing to tithing (giving 10% of our income) for 10 weeks as an act of worship, not out of obligation but out of love for He who was willing to give His life for us.

There is a great verse in the Bible where God comes and flat out challenges us to not only give to Him (what's His) but to put Him to the test...

"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it." --God Malachi 3:10

1. We challenge people that hadn't been tithing before to start tithing. To tithe for 10 weeks. [ We can't wait to hear testimonies about their experience...]
2. We challenge people that have been tithing to have a GREAT attitude about it. To actually look forward to this moment, to this act of worship!
3. Last, we challenged people that have been tithing faithfully to increase their giving for the next 10 weeks. To truly stretch themselves. Giving is about sacrifice. Sacrifice is about love. As David said:
   

"I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God that which costs me nothing." --2 Samuel 24...

This is NOT a transactional type of giving. "God, I'm going to give to you... so that you give a whole lot more back to me... ok? " NO that's not the point...

This is about expressing love & worship, honoring God and showing Him that we DO trust Him. God, loves you. He knows what you NEED the most and he is better at prioritizing than you and I could ever be. I rather put my trust in Him. I would love for you to join me on this challenge!
