Breakouts

Where Did the Time Go?
Do you find yourself wondering where the time has gone when it comes to our children? They grow up so fast. Are you making the most of those precious hours you have with the kids in your life? We will discuss some rhythms and practices and learn some practical ways to make the most of the time you have to invest in the lives of our children.

My kid is going into jr high, now what do I do?
It seems like just yesterday you were holding them in your arms and now they are headed to junior high. Today they are innocently coloring pictures and playing at recess in elementary school and tomorrow they are on an episode of 90210 in junior high. This breakout will give you tips on how not only can you and your student survive adolescence and junior high, but you can thrive! Learn what you can do at home and how participation in a student ministry can support you and your student.

Technology and your kids - friend or foe?
Most parents think their children are immune to the dangers on the internet or in the media - that they are too innocent or too good to get involved with things like pornography. But ultimately no child is immune. The content that kids have access to today is far more graphic, violent, deviant, and destructive than the things many of us faced as kids. It is our responsibility to protect our children. Learn how to set healthy boundaries in your home and in your child's life.

How do I raise financially healthy kids?
This breakout is designed to equip parents to guide their kids in the critical area of finances. Topics covered include allowances, budgeting, materialism, spending, giving, and saving. Parents will walk away equipped, confident, and energized to help their children use biblical principles when making financial decisions.

How do I talk to my kids about God?
We all agree that talking to our kids about God is important--but do you ever feel like you just don't know how to start? Or how to pray with them? Or to how to answer those tough questions they ask? We'll discuss the challenges of all this and learn some practical tips and ideas for having spiritual conversations with your kids of any age.

How do I raise kids that change the world?
Once they become teenagers it's all about rebellion...right? Maybe not. At Community we believe that students are the most powerful force on the planet. What can we do as parents to deal with our kids seeking independence and challenging boundaries and help them see that they can change the world.
