Emmanuel House Project

In partnership with Emmanuel House, Community 4:12 aims to increase homeownership rates in East Aurora.

Through this initiative, we are undertaking the ambitious goal of raising the homeownership rate in the City of Aurora's highest poverty census tracts from 44.1% to 50.1% in 10 years.  This will mean moving 150 families from renting to owning their own homes--helping to break the cycle of working-class poverty through homeownership.  The ripple effects of increased homeownership are felt throughout an entire community--in schools where test scores and graduation rates increase and on the streets where crime drops and outside investment increases.

We aim to establish Emmanuel House projects around Aurora by partnering with churches and individuals to cover the downpayment, mortgage, and repair costs of multi-unit houses.  Qualified families will then rent those units, and we will invest their rent for them so that at the end of 12 - 18 months they will have enough money saved to make a downpayment on their own home.
