Kid Pal provides an opportunity to teach classes such as sewing, cooking, woodworking to children in Joliet schools. Classes take place during the lunch hour and we need teachers with a skill to share and volunteers to help.
Welcome low-income families to shop for Christmas gifts at a reduced price. Marts offered in East Aurora and Joliet. Ways to serve:
Provide practical help to people facing short or long-term trials such as divorce, loneliness, grief, illness, surgery, single parenting, and more. Volunteer opportunities include: telephone care/support, hospital & home visitation, home repairs, meals, prayer blankets and shawls, and intercessory prayer.
Bring non-perishable food, toiletries and baby care items to the Yellow Box on the first full weekend of every month. Items are donated to the Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry to help people in need. Volunteers are also needed to help with the collection before one of the service times at the Yellow Box.
Help provide low cost auto repairs and car donations to individuals and families facing financial challenges. Volunteer opportunities include auto repair and maintenance, administration, customer service and fundraising.
Work one on one with an elementary school student to provide a positive relationship with an at-risk child. Or, partner with a mentor to pray for the child and the mentor. Mentors needed in East Aurora and Joliet.
Help in an East Aurora elementary school classroom for one hour (or more) per week. You choose the day, time and grade level.
Help 3rd – 5th grade students who are working below grade level to become better readers and students Held at Bardwell School in East Aurora on Saturday mornings from 9:15 – 10:45, or at Brady School in East Aurora from 10:00 - 12:00.
Bring your family to the East Aurora Campus the first Friday of each month from 7-9 pm to enjoy a movie, popcorn, and the opportunity to make new friends.
Join us at the East Aurora Campus each month to learn a different craft/skill (jewelry making, gift wrapping, Mexican stitching, Zumba, etc.) taught by talented women from the community. Workshops are normally held on the last Saturday of each month at 11:00.
Provide support for families in these non-profit buildings who are participating in a program that sets aside a portion of their rent for them to use later for education or a down payment on a home. Opportunities include financial sponsorship, mentoring, building maintenance and more.
