What is Alpha?

If you are new to small groups or exploring the Christian Faith, then Alpha Small Groups are the place to be. The format is simple: we watch a video and then we have a small group conversation that explores life, spirituality, and faith through a Christian lens. Whether you’re a skeptic, curious about faith or a growing Christ-follower, we create a non-judgmental and open environment where it’s easy for anyone to explore questions of life together.

How does it work?

Welcome

15 -30 Minutes | Introductions
Welcome and meet some new people. For some groups, this time includes a light meal.

Watch

25 Minutes | Short Films with Big Ideas
Each Alpha group features a 25-minute film. Designed to inspire more questions than provide answers, these short films explore the big issues around faith and unpack the basics of Christianity, addressing questions such as Who is Jesus? How can we have faith? We will watch the film each week together whether the meeting in-person or online.

Discuss

30 – 45 Minutes | Discuss the Questions That Matter To You
Online groups last 30 minutes. In-person groups last closer to 45 minutes. The entire group time builds towards this peak experience. After the film, you will be put into a virtual breakout room and your hosts will facilitate conversations in small groups where you can share your thoughts about faith and life and hear from others in your group. The film is where we say what we think, but this time is when you get to say what you think. We really want to hear your thoughts and opinions. We will put you in a group with friends or family that have invited you, and if you selected “skeptic, curious, or growing Christ-follower” in your registration, we’ll try to match you up with others who selected the same self-description.
