Scripture

Romans 12:2 and Matthew 6:10

Opening Question

What’s the most generous gift you’ve ever received? How did it make you feel? Did it impact your life in any way?

Series Overview

Every week we gather to celebrate what God is doing in our lives and to be unified in our mission of helping people find their way back to God. This week is Celebration Generosity, an amazing opportunity to partner with God and our three teams to transform our world! It’s where everyone gives one gift, one time. Our three teams are Community Cares, NewThing and Philippine Frontline Ministries. If you haven’t seen the Celebration Generosity message, you can watch it at communitychristian.org/celebrationgenerosity Giving for Celebration Generosity closes Oct 8, 2023 at midnight, but the opportunity to give is available at givenow.cc at anytime.

Bible Discussion

  1. Read Romans 12:2. To clarify the context of this passage, read Romans 11:33-36 to Romans 12:1. What is Paul doing and talking about in these passages and how does that relate to Romans 12:2?
  2. The only other place in Scripture where Paul uses this word for “transformed” is in 2 Corinthians 3:18. Discuss the significance of this.
  3. Read Matthew 6:10. How does praying for God’s kingdom to come and His will to be done influence our actions and decisions in daily life?
  4. How does the concept of God’s kingdom align with Jesus’ teaching and mission during his time on earth?

Life Application

  1. What are some ways we can be “transformed by the renewing of our minds”? Has this been true in your life? If so, share some specific examples as an encouragement.
  2. Have you ever considered your generosity as a form of worship? If so, how has this impacted your giving? If not, how could this change your perspective?
  3. What would it look like to give all of yourself to God’s plan – to build His Kingdom instead of your own? End your time together in prayer, asking God for guidance in this.
