Disciple Maker

Week 2 | You Already Have The Ability!

April 14, 2024

Big Idea

Any disciple of Jesus can become a disciple-maker. What makes someone an effective disciple-maker are practices you have the ability to do.

Scripture

2 Timothy 3:10-17, 2 Timothy 1:1-5, and Ephesians 3:20

Overview

In our current series, we will challenge one another to move past our fears and hesitations and intentionally pursue one of the most meaningful relationships you can ever have with another person, being a disciple-maker.

Opening Questions

  • What has been the best job you’ve had? What aspect of it made it the best?

Bible Discussion

  1. Read 2 Timothy 3:10-17, Paul’s “final charge” to Timothy. A disciple-maker is a person who helps someone else hear from God so they can do what He says. How does this passage support this definition of a disciple-maker? What else stands out to you in this passage?
  2. Find all the ways Scripture is described in verses 15-17. What is the importance of each description as we study it together?
  3. In 2 Timothy 1:1-5, Paul thanks God for Timothy and attributes Timothy’s genuine faith to his grandmother, Lois, and mother, Eunice. How does this passage highlight the importance of prayer? How does it highlight the importance of generational faith and influence?
  4. Read Ephesians 3:20. How does this verse encourage and empower you today to step into disciple-making?

Life Application

  1. Do you have someone in your life who consistently prays for you? How has knowing that they pray for you affected your relationship?
  2. Has generational faith been a part of your story? If so, how has it impacted your faith journey? If not, how has that affected your faith journey? How does this inspire you to pass on your faith to the next generation?
  3. Last week, we were asked to find our own Timothy. How has your search been going? Were you able to have an ICNU conversation with that person this past week? If you already have a Timothy, could you take the next step in having a YOU+ conversation with them? End in prayer, asking God to give you the vision and courage to be a disciplemaker. You are able in Him!
