Week 3 – The Journey of Trust | Mar 17 – 23, 2019

Message Big Idea

God intends for us to live in an ever-deepening relationship with him where we trust him to provide what we need, and we give back to him to further his mission.

Scripture

Luke 12:13-33

Ice Breaker and Opening Thought

  1. If aliens landed on earth tomorrow and asked you to go with them, would you go? Why or why not.

Bible Discussion

  1. Read Luke 12:13-33. What do you notice?
  2. In verses 20, 21 the man is called a fool, not because he had wealth, but because he wasn’t rich toward God. What does it mean to be rich toward God?
  3. Read 1 Timothy 6:10. In what ways have you seen the love or lust for money at the root of evil?

Life Application

  1. How might growing in generosity help us grow in our relationship with God?
  2. Is the challenge to grow in generosity a new one for you? Explain. What has been your experience with generosity?
  3. What are some financial goals you’d like to set to help you grow in your relationship with God? (These can be around giving, saving, debt reduction, and lifestyle).

Challenge

All of us have room to grow in the ways we relate to money, whether it’s our spending habits, our lifestyle, or a percentage we give back to God. Let’s challenge one another to set some goals in these areas and revisit those every month to see how we are doing. For when we trust God with our finances, we will come to a greater sense of peace and wholeness with the world around us.
