Commitment Sunday
November 17, 2024
Big Idea
New is Now! We are joining together to commit to our new vision and the New is Now initiative.
Scripture Reference: Matthew 6:19-24
Opening Questions
Describe a time when your faith was stretched beyond its usual limit. What did you learn about God during this time? What did you learn about yourself?
Bible Discussion
- Read Matthew 6:19-24.
- As Jesus shared this passage on the Sermon on the Mount, what connection did he make between our hearts and money? How does what we treasure reveal the true state of our hearts? How can we assess where our heart truly is, and what steps can we take to align our hearts more with God’s heavenly treasures?
- In this passage, Jesus challenges us to see generosity as essential to following him. What do you think holds people back from following Jesus in this way?
- Consider your own life – what “treasures” are you most focused on right now? Do these treasures align with the values of God’s kingdom? If so, how? If not, what is God saying to you about that?
Watch the New is Now video story from Sunday’s message.
- What about the video story most resonated with you?
- Was there anything in the video that challenged you?
We are asking every person at COMMUNITY to:
ASK God to raise your faith and to grow in the grace of giving. Ask Him for a faith-filled financial amount (John 15:5).
BELIEVE that God will lead and provide you with resources to honor your commitment (Mal. 3:10).
COMMIT to giving God all the glory for writing a new story in and through your life (Pro. 16:3).
- If you have already made your New is Now commitment, what was your experience with hearing from God like for you? How has this grown your faith and discipleship of hearing from God and doing what He says?
- If you’ve not yet made your commitment, how can you begin the process of asking God to raise your faith and grow in the grace of giving?
New is Now is a discipleship opportunity for all of us – a faith-raising opportunity! It’s a chance for each of us to hear from God and do what He says as we declare our allegiance to Him and step out in faith. End your group time in prayer, praising God for what He has already done and will do as we step out in faith to honor Him with our resources and our lives.
