IGNITE is . . .

IGNITE is one flame with four parts:

a Hearts On Fire Sunday celebration, a week of Prayer and Fasting, small group-led Discipleship Conversations, culminating in an Ignite Gathering.

IGNITE happens seasonally

Three times a year (January, May, and September) when we pause, reflect,
and rejoice in what God is doing and in what God will do.

the experience

Hearts On Fire sets the stage for IGNITE, calling us into a posture of expectation and renewal. Watch this video to get a glimpse of how God is stirring hearts across our church.

hearts on fire sunday is . . .

a sacred pause within our journey—a time to stop rushing ahead and invite Jesus to draw near, reveal Himself, and ignite our hearts with fresh passion. Like the disciples on the road to Emmaus, we create space to walk with Christ, allowing Him to open our eyes to His presence and set our hearts ablaze with renewed purpose. These divine pauses become the punctuation marks of our faith journey, moments where confusion gives way to clarity, weariness transforms into passion, and we discover Jesus walking beside us all along. In the sacred rhythm of pausing, listening, and receiving, we find our hearts burning within us, ready for whatever comes next on the path He’s prepared.

prayer and fasting

When Jesus spoke these words to his first disciples, He called them into a life-changing relationship that would transform every area of their lives. Jesus would be their King, and they would become his Kingdom Community. They would set aside many of their former values, priorities, and practices to follow Jesus in the ways of his Kingdom. Prayer and fasting were essential in drawing near to God, seeking His guidance, and growing in intimacy with Him.

Prayer connects us to the heart of the Father, allowing us to experience His presence and grow in intimacy with Him. Just as Jesus depended on prayer, we too are invited into an ongoing conversation with God, bringing out praises, confessions, requests, and surrender before Him.

Fasting is not just about abstaining from food; it is about feasting on God’s presence.  When we fast, we set aside distractions to focus on Him, growing in humility and dependence.  Fasting is a way to clear away the noise of life so we can hear from God more clearly.  We fast not to earn God’s favor, but to align our hearts with His.

discipleship conversations

In a discipleship conversation (playing out in small groups all across COMMUNITY during IGNITE), attenders have an opportunity to prayerfully sit with Jesus, reflect on their lives, and respond to what God is saying to them. Since our desire is to have hearts on fire for Jesus, we seek to pay attention to how He’s inviting each of us to take a step forward as His disciples— both individually and together. This happens through the Discipleship Conversations curriculum which takes place during the week of prayer and fasting, ahead of the IGNITE Gathering. Prayer and fasting were essential in drawing near to God, seeking His guidance, and growing in intimacy with Him.

three phrases of
the discipleship conversations

The Discipleship Conversations echo three phrases from the Psalms, prayed with the intention of listening for what Jesus might be saying to us. After a time of personal reflection, the group gathers to share what they’ve heard, encourage one another, and discern next steps for following Jesus in the upcoming season.

PHRASE 1:

search me

Participants begin by praying, “Search me,” inviting God to reveal what is true in their hearts, thoughts, and motivations. This phase focuses on honest self-reflection and awareness.

PHRASE 2:

cleanse me

Next, the group prays, “Cleanse me,” creating space to acknowledge areas in need of healing, forgiveness, or transformation. This phase centers on confession, surrender, and spiritual renewal.

PHRASE 3:

teach me

Finally, the prayer shifts to, “Teach me,” asking Jesus to guide, instruct, and shape the path forward. The group reflects on how to take practical next steps in following Jesus together over the next season.

discipleship conversations
A Moment of Unity, Expectancy,
and Renewal

After a week of prayer and fasting, along with rich discipleship conversations, the pastors of COMMUNITY (every person) are encouraged to gather together on the last day for a culture shaping and unifying mini-conference. The event is crafted to help ignite hearts and equip our people through passionate and spirit-led worship, with visionary and practical teaching. Each gathering over the course of the year will take a unique shape based on the season and where the spirit is leading, and could include commissioning and anointing of our every-day pastors, encouragement and affirmation for the “next yes” that God is asking of us, and probably a laugh or two… :)

The IGNITE Gathering is a place of expectancy: expectant that the Holy Spirit will move in and among our people, and that the preparation of the week will result in a spiritual readiness and hunger. This hunger overflows out of our hearts and into the lives of those God has called us to minister to in all our environments, as we seek to pastor in our families, in our neighborhoods, and in our workplaces. This is the heart of revival as we seek to make space for Jesus to do a mighty work in our lives, drawing more and more of his children back to him.
