Our Gift Mart went multi-site this year, so we had simultaneous Marts going on in East Aurora and East Joliet. Thanks to a huge outpouring of generosity, we collected 9,500 toys, had over 1,000 volunteers, served approximately 3,500 people, and raised almost $15,000 for our partner schools in the two communities. And fun and joy beyond measure!
In the Fall of 2003, Community 4:12 began a partnership with Brady Elementary School in East Aurora, a “port of entry” Hispanic community. We shared a vision with the school’s principal of transforming the community around his school. Using the school as our ministry hub, we started several outreach programs including: tutoring, Book Club, community events, teacher appreciation activities, and parent mentoring.
Over the years we have expanded our partnership to include several other schools in the district, a number of churches, non-profits, and the city government. Our goal has been to build relationships and the trust of the community to lay the groundwork for bringing a bilingual campus to the area. Our dream is to open a community and cultural center in East Aurora that would bring economic and development opportunities to the community, such as incubator businesses, a school for the arts, and youth and adult programming.

Community 4:12 brings compassion, social justice, and community development ministries to under-resourced communities. We bring together Community attenders and others who feel called to impact communities that are culturally and economically different from our own. Compelled by Jesus’ example, we are committed to bringing hope, resources and restoration to struggling communities…one neighborhood at a time. We roll up our sleeves and collaborate with community leaders in schools, government, social services agencies and businesses, to address the specific needs of each focus community. Our efforts can extend to many aspects of community life: housing, transportation, education, employment, business development, life skill training, health care and spiritual growth.
